Mo Gawdat and Courtney Carver

I'm a huge fan of the work of today's guest, Courtney Carver.

Courtney launched her blog Be More with Less in 2010 and is one of the top bloggers in the world on the subject of minimalism. She is the author of Soulful Simplicity and is the creator of the minimalist fashion challenge, Project 333, a new approach to living simply starting with your wardrobe. Project 333 promises that not only can you survive with just 33 items in your closet for 3 months, but you'll thrive too.

Her body of work focuses on the power of simplicity to improve our health, build more meaningful relationships, and relieve stress in our professional and personal lives. I'm sure you'll breathe a sigh of relief when you realize that less can definitely be more.

Listen as we discuss:

  • How did Courtney discover minimalism?
  • Being deep in debt in her 20's
  • The inevitable breakdown that comes from being too busy for too long
  • Her diagnosis with MS, after training for a cycling race to support MS
  • Listening for the body's wake-up call
  • Project 333, and how it came to be
  • The beautiful realization that people don't pay attention to what you're wearing
  • How did she pay off her debt?
  • Getting past the need to impress others with what you own
  • How she deals with negative comments and feedback
  • "I've already settled it for myself. Flattery and criticism go down the same drain." - Georgia O'Keefe
  • The Simplicity Space
  • The pressure society places on women to show up and look good
  • Habit stacking, a brilliant practice for easing into long-lasting habits
  • How to furnish a new space minimally
  • Creating the environment in which you want to experience life
