Mo Gawdat and Elisa Haggarty

Today's guest is Elisa Haggarty, introduced to me by former guest, dear friend, and Slo Mo's video editor, Elina St-Onge.

Elisa Haggarty is a Conscious Leadership Coach, Functional Nutritionist & Lifestyle Expert, founder of Culinary Farmacy, and Head of Learning & Culture for Parsley Health. Elisa practices root cause resolution that means she works to find the triggers of disease in the human body and provides practical action steps on how to address health goals.

Elisa is tired of the status quo that posits disease as synonymous with old age and your genetics as your fate, and firmly believes that each meal is a chance to impact mental and physical health.

Listen as we discuss:

  • Elisa's traumatic brain injury that led to clinical depression and a host of symptoms
  • Meditating, diet, and self-development helped where the medical community failed
  • People want quick results, so we eat poorly and don't even wonder anymore
  • Health eating is not about calories; it's about color, and eating intentionally.
  • People can list more corporations than vegetables or birds; we've lost touch with nature.
  • You don't need to change anything to be happier.
  • The word "should" means you're letting life happen to you instead of for you.
  • Her dad's battle with dementia, and how she and her family are supporting him.
  • The Conscious Leadership approach to coaching clients.
  • How to not be a victim and cultivate playfulness
  • Whoever has the most fun wins life.
  • Ask yourself in hardship: how can this work for me?
