Mo Gawdat and Tim Ash
This is Part 2 of my chat with Tim Ash, author, keynote speaker and advisor. For nineteen years he was the co-founder and CEO of SiteTuners – a strategic digital optimization agency for which he created over $1.2 billion in documented value for clients.

Tim is an expert in user-centered design, persuasion, understanding consumer behavior, neuromarketing, and landing page testing. In other words, he knows how people think, and that's led him to uncover some realizations about the state of the world (and the internet) that are uncharacteristically pessimistic for an episode of this show. However, I loved this talk and found it to be among the most important.

Tim's latest book is Unleash Your Primal Brain: Demystifying How We Think and Why We Act, which goes back to the fundamental “why’s” behind our actions from an evolutionary perspective.

In Part 2, listen as we discuss:

  • Tribal cohesion helped us survive, not challenging social norms.
  • The need to create inefficiencies so lies don't spread too fast.
  • We're not holding the tech companies to account for destroying society.
  • Think global, act local, and how we choose your sphere of concern carefully.
  • What's been the hardest effect of the pandemic? Loneliness and isolation.
  • The upside of the pandemic: people have gotten more real.
  • The capitalist mindset and technology dependency is dooming the world.
  • We've infected the world with the wrong values.
  • What makes us human? The ability to hold and live by contradictions.
  • We need to bring our whole being to the world if we want it to survive.
