Mo Gawdat and Jada Sezer

Today's guest is a true inspiration.

Jada Sezer is a model, content creator, UN Women UK Changemaker, and advocate for body positivity, mental wellbeing and gender equality. She is one of the first plus size models in the UK who has challenged societal beauty ideals for over a decade. She’s graced the covers of Women's Health and Cosmopolitan magazines, starred in a billboard campaign for L'Oreal, and served as a global ambassador for Adidas.

Jada has an MA in Child Psychotherapy and a diploma in Neuroplasticity. She’s the current host of the IGTV series Why We Feel This on her Instagram, interviewing neuroscientists and psychologists on emotions and brain health (including myself!)

In 2018, Jada ran the London Marathon as a non-runner in underwear to challenge fitness perceptions and body ideals. She’s the co-creator of the 'Celebrate You' campaign, a partnership with Vitality 10K, a run to encourage women of all sizes and abilities to enjoy running.

Listen as we discuss:

  • Confronting "newness" in the pandemic and "oldness" at the end of it.
  • Jada's childhood, far away from being fashionable.
  • Avoiding the celebrity-induced ego to return to focusing on the "Why"?
  • The divine timing (and great family) behind her success
  • The advice of her father that always kept her confident.
  • Does the fashion industry really believe in body positivity or just complying?
  • The shift to giving us an image we can relate to, not an ideal to strive for.
  • What's left for social justice and gender equality?
  • Hiring a woman is an amazing bang for your buck.
  • Why Jada ran a marathon as a plus-sized woman.
